I was wondering if there are any small schooling fish? I haven't really read about any but thought someone might know. Thanks!

Look at some of the smaller Cardinalfish. It's extremely hard to get authentic school behavior in home aquariums.

Chromis are one of the best and one of my favorite fish, super cheap to

For a certain size tank? Or are just asking in general?

I don't mean to hijack you thread, but I have a similar question

How many cromis can I put in a 20 gallon nano? It's a mixed reef. Mainly z's n p's/shrooms

in all honesty youre looking at 2-3 fish max in a 20 gallon:/ unless you have banging filtration or do more than 2 waterchanges a week! especially with corals you dont want to be worrying about constant fluctuating parameters they wont do well:/

In very few tanks I have seen true schooling and those were larger aquariums. Same type fish swimming in the same direction does not constitute schooling or shoaling. Cardinals and Chromis seem to behave in a shoaling manner more than any other hobby fish I have seen, but again only in larger tanks.

Depending on tank size pink bar gobies. They will swim together.

chromis are good, but can be mean/territorial..they are a cousin to the damsel family.

might try fairy wrasses..max size on some are 2-3 inches, as are Anthias.

Phetusus angularis :D

I saw a small group of blue-eyed cardinal fish in an 80 rimless...was a very nice look.

If you get a super larger tank you should try dolphins. Jk, but if you really wanted to cardinals I started with 15 now I got 5 left I rather had 15 cardinals.
