Found a few aiptasia in my tank. Anyone know of an effective predator for them?

I've heard that peppermint shrimp can help. I have one currently

Peppermint shrimp will eat them, if it’s the right species of peppermint shrimp. The different species look nearly identical but they don’t all eat aptasia. I think that explains why they have a hit and miss reputation. I saw a chart once that shows all the types but couldn’t find it when I looked.

Do you know if the ORA peppermint shrimp are one of the species that do?

I sure hope so! I don’t know. Page two of this thread has a post with the chart I remember, then a link to a post from AlgaeBarn that talks about it. The two posts might conflict, but good starting point.

Also, I replaced my coffee table tank with a Waterbox Clear Mini 10. Looks much nicer than the Top Fin tank. I had a die off from some unknown disease with no ammonia spike, so I’ll be adding new fish later today. Can’t wait to get into saltwater soon!! This tank has 4 mollies and 6 dwarf cory catfish.

Tell me with no words that you don't have young kids... Lol

Yeah, that wouldn’t have worked lol. Amazingly my dog paid no attention to it. I recently dismantled it though since we had no space for playing games or doing puzzles

Might pick up a serpent starfish tomorrow. Any thoughts on having one in a 25 gallon tank?
I’ve had great luck with the dark brown spikey brittle stars. One I had for >10 yrs.

I had a problem with a green serpent star who got really big and ate fish.

Sorry I don’t know species names.

Any suggestions for a 5th fish? Currently have 2 clownfish, banggai cardinal, and a sharknose goby. Looking for something that plays nice and would be an active explorer, since my cardinal and goby mostly stay in the same spots

I like the captive bred fork tail blenny from Biota

I'm looking at upgrading my phone to the iPhone 13 Pro. My SE has been having issues and I think the pro would make for some good reef photos, especially with the Orphek or Polyplab lens kits. I would then sell my DSLR. Anyone have any thoughts on using their iPhone for reef photos?

I'm thinking of removing the anthelia. It's way overgrown and is shading my corals below. Also, it's starting to cover my feather dusters. I'm thinking I may put a stylophora frag in its place, a frogspawn or BTA on bottom, and then move those lower frags up front

You may know this but the BTA will move where it wants to be, and with my luck they always move to where I don’t want them to be.

That’s why I’ve been hesitant about it. I will admit that I am jealous of other reefers who have their clownfish hosting one

I decided to stop by and check the build out, looks awesome! But, I am hesitant to think you are dealing with a Hair Algae outbreak, it almost looks like something else. Hard to be sure though.
