So last year I bought a trio of Scissortail goby's. I had a number of Ick and/or Velvet outbreaks and all my fish are back in QT for 3 months now. These 2 fish have never seemed to, visibly at least, actually have any signs of Ick themselves and are the remaining 2 fish that have survived all the outbreaks.

So that pair, a firefish, a black neon dottyback, and a pair of clowns are in QT, 30 days with Cupramine, a week off, 2 weekly doses of Prazi. During the Prazi the firefish went into hiding only to come out to eat, once that was over and I did carbon and a water change it returned to normal behavior.

Now all through this, and ever since I've had them, the Scissortail's randomly flash on the sand. One is a lot larger than the other, and it usually starts it and the smaller one joins in shortly after. None of the other fish are doing so, so wondering if this is a behavior thing with these fish or if they might still have something and I need to redo the med cycle or try something else?

Flashing is generally a habit or a sign of parasite such as ich or velvet. Im surprised these guys havent made an attempt to jump out of tank yet?

Nope, they appear to be happy and healthy, usually close to each other, color is nice, and appetite is voracious.

The only fish that's come close to being a jumper is the firefish, and that's only if it gets startled by something.

What form of prazi did you use? I don't see a lot of fluke issues with gobies, so the flashing may just be behavioral, are they still feeding o.k., with no cloudiness to their skin and no tattering on their fins?

The HealthAid PraziPro liquid concentrate. Ya, they eat every time I put food in the tank, they are out in the open swimming around. Physically nothing wrong, color and fins are beautiful.

Guess I'll put carbon in, do a water change and watch em for awhile. After 2 fallow periods this year I don't want to put sick fish back in my DT...

That’s really the only course of action that I can see.....

@Alchameth
Did you determine what caused your scissortail dartfish to flash? I have three dartfish in QT, similar situation to what you posted, and after 4 months they're flashing regularly.
Thanks
