I recently added a scissortail goby (dartfish) to my reef tank. I noticed that it occasionally swims near the bottom of the tank and hovers over the sand. Very quickly, it does like a little half flip and rubs its back and tail on the sand. I was wondering if this is normal for this fish, or if it could mean that it has some time of parasite that is causing it to scratch itself on the sand? Thank you.

It is called flashing and it is an indicator of parasites.

Does it have sandy dots on it? If so it could be that its scratching due to ick

They hide, they rub and they jump.
If nothing noticeable externally, may be internally?
