Hi guys a little help here.

I purchase this scoly from world wide corals about a month ago, I aclimated him before putting it in my tank and he seemed happy for the most part.

I noticed some white spots around his mouth recently that seemd to be getting worst, is he bleaching or could it be something else?

The first picture was taken on 12th and te second one today... it seems to be getting worst

He is in the bottom biocube with stock led lights so I doubt it could be to much light, there is two hydro korallia small pumps for flow that are always turned on alternating from each other.

I try to folow the red sea coral growth program, this is my parameters as of the 14th testing water now.

1.026
Ca 375
Mg 1360
Alk 11.5
No3 6.0
Po4 0.04

Yeah,
They like low light and low flow.

Your alk is a tad high for my taste, but Soly's are a hard to keep, long term, as well.

The longest I ever kept one was about two years.

Is it still eating?

Boost your calcium a bit. If you’ve had it a month I imagine your lights aren’t adequate to keep its vibrant colors. I hope you have been feeding it a few times a week with meaty foods at night.

Admittedly, I haven't kept a Scoly, just Lobophyllia and others. You guys covered my two suggestions:
Lower the alk, and feed it. I would let the alk drop a couple points at least. Frozen mysis is a good food for brains.

Edit: I forgot to ask...what is your water change schedule?

Its my fist scoly, I really hope he makes it.

I feed the tank twice since I got him, first time I didn't spot feed him but he seemd to grab some. The second time I did spot feed him a mixture of roids, reef eneegy, reef freenzy and coral gumbo... he eat it, and just now i see him pooping. At night he looks helathy with his sweepers out.

I feed him twice so far in about a month, i can feed him more. Would low lighting couse bleaching?

That doesn’t look like normal bleaching from high light.
I feed my scoly 3x a week.

Im going to dose lese alk and raise my cal, hopefully it helps.

I haven't follow my reagular water change schedule becuse i was fithing some dinos that are finally almost all gone. I did a 3g waterchange monday and my next one is saturday.

If the coral doesn't get enough light would it bleach like that?
I could find him a spot higher in the tank, but prefer not to move him at all so it won't get stressed out

Yeah. If it’s not getting enough light/nutrient deprived, it can get kind of dull and translucent; high light bleaching is fluorescent and can be translucent in extreme cases.

Thank you for all the feedback, im going to feed him a bit more and if he doesn't show sings of improvement im going find him a spot higher in the tank

At night when he looks like this:

spot feed him with your flow turned off. Either mysis or pellets or both (I feed both), using Coral Frenzy 1mm reef pellets. Every other day or so.

then, during the day it will look like this:

Wow beautiful piece you have. At night his sweepers look half way like that.

I feed him some during the night, lets hope its just food that he needs.

Make sure your flow is good and your lighting is in 100 par level. Mine kind of took a bit to settle in and start to show off but now its huge. Make sure all water change schedules are kept these corals will let you know when you are slacking. Make sure to feed it like the others said they are awsome to watch eat as well so you will want to. If the scolys base is suffocated like not just propped on the sand bed they connot exchange nutrients and it will kill them. Not sure if it is in the sand bed but this can be a problem as well. Picture is right after dinner.

I’ve noticed a direct correlation between how happy he is and how much I feed. If I don’t feed enough/as often, his feeders don’t come out as much. Seems to be a sign of health. I broadcast feed the tank but it’s not enough for him, he really needs to be target fed imo.

Beautiful coral!!! Lets trade lol

He is definitely not in the 100 par I bealive the chart for the manufacturer led hood says 30 to 40 par in the location were he sits. I might have to move him up then.
And he sits in the sand bed, like he is not pushed in there, you can see some of the base, should i try to put him on a disc istead?
Im going to try take a picture when i get home tonight so you guys can see

Your scoly is way nicer and will be just fine.

I think the par is mainly your issue if you really love the spot and cant move it to see if the added par will help then you can use a disk to see it it will help. I do not recommend changing more than 1 thing at a time unless it is blatantly wrong because you will not know what the issue was and how you fixed it.

Thank you!!
Agree, Im thinking on feeding him abit more often for now and keeping the water more stable. If he keeps getting worst I'll move him up.

Thank you for all the feed back!!
