Bought a scoly a week ago. It’s beautiful red, eats like anything and coloration is also good but the only thing is that, it is always deflated and is not getting that proper donut shape a scoly gets. I don’t know what’s wrong, any suggestions. At the lfs it had that donut shape.

Post your water parms. Also do you have any fish that may be pecking on it?

Calcium-420
Alk-9
Mag-around 1400(it’s been weeks since I last checked mag)
Ammonia- 0
Nitrate-0
Phosphate- .25

No I don’t have any fish or invert that will pick at it. I keep Reef safe creatures only who’ll coexist peacefully.

Hows the flow...they like it low...

Flow, is generous. 2 jebao rw-20, on either side of the tank. But hey, I’ve a bubble coral and Euphyllia garden also in the same tank. And I’ve tried to provide this scoly a low flow region in my tank. Seems I need to move it further more maybe.

Almost a year old. Yes I’ve put it on sand bed, so it ain’t getting a lot of light

Just because it’s on the sand bed doesn’t mean it’s not getting to much light, I have mine in front corner of my tank under second set of t5’s that only run for 4 hours.

Yeah I know that. I’ve carefully chosen a low light area for him that’s what I meant to say. Maybe I’ll move him under a ledge or something next. Plus you’ve t5 that’s much more intensity than led since led can be programmable.
