My scolymia just started looking really unhappy, I recently purchased a litho and tongue coral but they are at least 2-3 inches away.

Hopefully your new additions did not affect it. It does look a little out of sorts. Do you have a QT? Maybe water parameters are off.

Hey thanks for the response I don't have a quarantine tank. And parameters haven't been changed. I've had this scoly for about 3 years in multiple tanks never seen it do this though.

Has anyone seen one do this before? It started doing it when I moved it closer to a bubble coral to make room for the tongue coral and litho colony. Is it preparing for war with them or something? I've seen other corals put out these weird filaments before but usually they were really close to other corals. Any ideas?

I would move it away from the bubble coral. They are aggressive and have long tentacles. Try that and see how it does.

Well come to find out, after watching my tank for a few hours....my polymnus is nipping away at my scoly! I fed some extra hoping the nitpicking would stop but as I'm watching now, it just can't get enough. Anyone else have a clownfish that picked at coral?

Scoly's do that sometimes when stressed..little white strings expelled from the flesh. I had a couple do that to me when transporting them.

It's war baby hooraawww move him it's a defence my buddies did that next to a plate coral.

Okay thanks for the insight I'm going to make it a little more isolated from everything. And I don't know how but we caught the polymnus so he'll be in the refugium for a while till I fid a home for him. So hopefully the scoly won't be so stressed out with him gone.
