I recently ramped my lighting and had to move my scoly from its quite area to an area where it would get less light after seeing it have some issues with the new level of par.

The new area that it lives is also an area where the fish like to congregate which isn’t a problem until feeding. Every single time I hand feed the scoly, within a few seconds one of my tangs come and get the food. I have tried putting food in the other side of tank and then quickly go to the scoly to try a and sneak a piece onto it, the tangs ditch the other food and come to where I am hand feeding.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Maybe a cage or something with opening small enough that the tangs can’t get there mouths into it?

Any ideas would help:)

Thanks

Try using a clean Tupperware container so you can cover him and still watch. Feed him like normal and immediately cover him with the Tupperware so the gangs can't steal his food. You may need a small piece of LR to hold it in place. Once he is done eating, simply remove his cover.

You can also try feeding it after the lights go out when the mouth is usually wide open and fish are usually down for the night. I use a turkey baster to get the food in there. That's how I feed both of my scolys.

I've been using Strawberry or Blueberry containers (the deep ones) which let some flow through, but keep the fish out. However night time, about an hour after sun down is when I get the best reading response from them.
