Help! I moved this guy yesterday b/c he bleached a little and a turbo bumped him closer to one of my Acanthophyllia's so it got stung all day today. Suggestions on next steps?? This is one of my favorites - if not THE favorite in the tank b/c he glows like none I have ever seen =( Thx!!

I'll try to feed tonight. Should I move to low light instead of medium? 75g 4x T5 (4 B+ 1 daylight)

I've had him about 9 months

Low flow for sure. If it opens up to feed then feed it but don't try to force feed it. Shrimp, hermits and fish may pick at it so a cover of some sort may be needed. Wait an see for now. If it gets worse it may not recover at all. If it holds it's ground you may consider cutting away the dead skeleton. In my experience LPS recover easier if they don't have to grow over old dead sharp skeleton.

I use a 2 liter coke bottle cut about 1/3 as a dome to shield when I feed sum times, the top hole is big enough to stick the baster thru

No need to worry, I've had one of mine get stung by a chalice and it made it back. It will take long, but it will come back like before. It might not eat for a while, maybe because digestion wastes energy, and it will probably save it to regain control of what was damaged with the sting. In a few days it should eat again, and before you know it, tissue will start growing back. I would say feed it at most twice a week, that should be plenty. Good luck!

It should recover just fine. Low flow is key. Try feeding if it will take it, but don't over feed. I've seen worse, trust me, but these guys are hardy. Be patient, while it can be quick, it may also take some time.

Scoly are resilient when in good water conditions. Ours grew back from only having about 40% flesh and 0 color. The flesh was literally falling off of it when I got it from the guy who didn't have a clue what he was doing

Now it looks like this

I also dipped ours in coral rx.

Thanks everyone! I'll keep you posted. It ate last night so that's a step forward. Based on the thick skeleton he's pretty old... maybe as old as me!
