Scoly save - Need advice!

Hello all, I am a beginner and recenly bought a cheap scoly which has tissue recession. The shop told me that it had problem before. But now it is stable. So i take a shot to see if the scoly can back to normal.

As you can see it looks health and a bit inflated in the first day. It locates in low flow and low light area.

The question is i am not sure if i need to cut out those black skeleton on the margins? What should i be doing to get it back to full health? Anyone have same experience before?

I got the same deal several months ago. Mine wasn't nearly as receded. I just left the skeletal structure alone and it seems to be very slowly growing back over it. I'm no expert by any means. I've only been reefing for 2 1/2 years. When I first got it, my scoly seemed to decline. But over time it has improved. Good luck.

I bought a bleached out scoly with some tissue recession about a month ago and I’ve just kept it in a low flow area on the sandbed and i feed it either reef frenzy or reef roids a couple times a week

I just want share my exciting status. The scoly has grow a lot in just five days. It started to climb along with the old skeleton and inflated. I feed the reef roid every two days.

Looks awesome. I feed mine Reef Chili and mysis every three days. Looks like it's going to be a beautiful coral!

don't trim the skeleton. It can reattach.

I am in the same situation. Mine went from nice and full to about 1/2 inch of almost nothing. As a last resort I moved it to a different tank and placed it mostly in shade with low flow. It is slowly starting to come around. It started extending feeding tentacles a few weeks ago for the first time ever so I have hope. This is a heavy crop from a full tank shot.

I have recently brought scolly also with some receding problems. It had some aptasia attached to the side which I removed and but there seems to be other pests on the skeleton. Does anybody have any previous experience or advice with how I could get it back to full health?

Moderate light and water flow with steady parameters and feeding 2-3x per week seems to be their happy recipe

Keep Alk stable I keep mine at 10...I Feed raw shrimp 1/8 to 1/4 in piece once or twice a week.To large a piece cant actually harm it.Frozen raw shrimp per pound is a heck of a lot cheaper than commercial brands.

so do you think this may help? Or is it best to leave it not disturbed? I’ve also spotted more aptasia around the base... what process is the safest way to remove?

No. They on my behalf don’t respond to dip well. For aptasia, simply mix kalkwasser powder into a thin paste and inject with a syringe into the center core of each one. They will melt away
