I have had this scooter blenny for probably about 2 months now and I don't think I have seen him eat one. I seem him pecking all the time but I read that doesn't mean he is actually eating. I know these guys are known to be finicky eaters sometimes. I feed the tank a variety of different things such as Flake food, Pellets, and a variety of different frozen food. I m looking for any advice on what I can do to help this guy out.

Thanks.

What frozen foods are you feeding?
They can be a bit finicky at first and do appreciate a good Pod population.

I have been feeding mostly frozen mysis and brine to the tank. I am pretty sure my pod population is ok but I will try and work on that in case its not. I have also heard that blood worms work? I am going to move him into another tank with more docile eaters and hopefully he'll feel more inclined to eat.

Thanks.

Probably a good plan on the move. Blood worms are a 50/50 in my experience with scooters. Your feeding pretty much what I am, you could try nutrimar ova as well.

+1 on the nutrimar ova. My mandarin took to it right away. Also, you could try live brine.

Ocean nutrition sells bottled pods to help seed your tank. How much live rock do you have?

I've had pretty good luck with using bloodworms, particularly when they are soaked in garlic; still, Salty is on point - most say it's 50/50. Mine also eat frozen freshwater discus food.

When I first got my two, I had them in a tank with a little clown goby who was eating well and maybe he acted like a dither fish for the scooters.

My mandarin looked angry when I tried to give him blood worms. I told him to PM PaulB.

That's because your mandarin doesn't like you. He PMed me.
Haha. I know.
He built a steampunk lamp:confused:

Oddly he wont take worms when fed, but eats all of the worms from the sand.
