Hello everyone and happy Memorial Day! I got a scopes tang currently in copper power. Almost 2 weeks ago I noticed his eye was a little popping out and a bit hazy. He’s been eating and very active so I said I’ll wait week to see if it gets better but it’s only gotten worse. I dosed the tank with kanaplex once to see if it gets better. Today I did a 50 % water change and dosed Maracyn. I’m not sure how long it should take for it to heal and should I be doing something to else? I have kanaplex, Maracyn, neoplex, metro and Erythromycin. I soak the food in garlic, beta glucan and vitachem.

Happy Memorial Day.

Kanaplex treats pop eye but it takes several days before antibiotics start working. Follow the dosing instruction but it needs to be re-dosed every 2 days with water changes to keep water quality pristine. This is a must when dealing with bacterial issues such as these.

Not a QT issue but likly from either pipes or the acclimation box which often if too small can cause damage. Being 2 weeks, I would treat in a separate treatment tank using maracyn which is Erythromycin as shown below
for at least 5 days.

I agree, erythromycin may work, and keeping the fish calm and not allow it to run into things can help protect the other eye. These eye issues can take a month or longer to resolve, long after you’ve stopped the antibiotics.

It probably hit its eye on the pipe or something. I just put it in the acclimation box today so I can have access to it easily before it was swimming in tank. The acclimation box it’s in is quite large about 12x6. So I’ll continue with the Maracyn for the full treatment

I put him in an acclimation box so he’s not running around the QT tank.

A small acclimation box for a tang might cause additional trauma though. If it settles down and is calm in there, that's o.k. - but if it acts flighty and struggles when you approach, it may cause it more harm.
