my lyretail looks like its becoming male.. but fins look like they are turning black.. but it is getting the longer upper fin and purpleish colour.. hard to get a picture its to fast... LOL

scopus turned light on to feed about 30 min ago after getting home from work.. .. found this.... still swimming around well but didn't eat either which is odd..

the white above eyes and such goes up the front of the nose? sorry picture not the best but when I go to glass it runs away ..

Could that be the start of HLLE? But from the pics it looks like he has raised spots on his body also (Can’t tell if those on him or the glass).

yea the white spots are on him.. the front glass is clear as can be.. everything else is the back glass..

yea he wont eat hides when I come up to glass which is odd.. breathing heavier then normal.. I read up on HLLE and checked everything , from levels to stray voltage and come up confused, more then anything my other tangs look perfect, even *Dory* The scopus is still fine swimming around and all otherwise …

the anthia I believe is fine but never seen one go from female to male.. let alone black looking fins..

What size tank is this? Have you checked your water parameters since this started? The spots would make me think ich, have you thought about a FW dip to rule out flukes? How long since the last fish was added and was it QT’ed?

135 gallon 6 foot tank 30 gallon sump , was fine yesterday nothing was seen so it happened overnight/today as I leave for work early morning I don't go near tank :(

thought about FW dip, but honestly scared to do it.. im still in learning stages (1 year of saltwater)
been pretty stable here but just did again ..
Salinity 1.025
PH 8.1
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 5
phosphate 0.02
alk 8 dkh
magnesium around 1300~
temp is 78.4 degrees

last fish added were my 2 juvi percs and they was in a small 10 gallon for around 8 weeks.. (daughters tank) otherwise a 5-6 inch sailfin 6 weeks ago.. from a healthy friends tank it outgrew

The scopas has definitely got some HLLE going on there - heavier-than-normal breathing suggests that something has invaded his gills. The size and number of the spots suggest ich.

Ich spots will stay put for 4-7 days, then drop away. At that time, the parasites will encyst and begin to form anywhere from dozens to hundreds of daughter cells, which will eventually break loose to hunt and infest all of your fish.

There's a terrific article here on how to deal with it: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/ich-cryptocaryon-irritans.191226/#post-2192627

I would suspect the spots on his sides need to be treated, I’m sure someone else will have a better idea of what it is but I think you have two issues and one is causing the other. If it were me I would start thinking about a QT and treatment for your fish. I’ve only been in this hobby for 3-4 years total and tbh a FW dip still scares the crap out of me.

I guess time to setup a proper hospital tank ….. and read.. read read…

thanks for the info guys... always very helpful , was hoping it was simpler but never is in this hobby ..

Good luck and you are fortunate you caught it early.

im always at my tank.. I do everything manually no auto anything , want to learn before relying on controllers.. hell even my lights I control manually with the dimmer switches and ramp up and down over the time im home, when not home I got tank covered and its blacked out during day ..

I do everything manually also, one because that is the hobby to me and two I’m just too cheap to buy all of these high end controllers. I’m retired and I have time to do it myself!

well about 15 min ago I lost the scopas tang no warning.. swimming around, fins went straight up/down , and sank to the bottom stopped breathing , but also never ate since this all started.. had him about 6-7 months, was my daughters, she picked it out, now I got to explain that to her after school :(

Ended up trying fw dip and few other things I read on these forums of knowledge (wow) so far leaving the display empty except for shrimp nem's and snails/hermits , during this time of year when everyone wants to see, it sucks.. but gotta do what you gotta do.. the other fish are active as can be, and eating like pigs.
