Scotts75 gallon tank

been working on getting my phosphates down using reef grow product called algae outs, so far I am liking the product actually got my phosphates down to .07, but to be honest some of my SPS corals have not been happy about it. I am going to shoot for .1 phosphates I think for me anyways may be the sweet spot.

I got some aptasia eating nudi I hope they can get my aptasia problem under control. Also my bubble algae issue is just about to the point of not being able to do anything about it. I am still reluctant to try emerald crabs.

Not much new, decided that I like the way my tank looks with higher phosphate levels. Bubble algae and aptasia is really starting to irritate me. Nudi have been doing a little bit, but it is hard to tell if they are still alive spotted a couple a few nights after lights out, so hopefully they will be able to reproduce. Added a couple of emerald crabs don't want to add more out of the fear of them eating the nudi branches.

Bubble algae is out of control. I am thinking of using vibrant, but I am concerned with bringing phosphate levels down to far. Nudi have not done much I am worried that they may have been eaten by my Christmas wrasse.

ALK is showing over 10 with my hanna checker pretty sure some kind of error happen I usually run my ALK around 8. Not panicking I turned down my ALK dose by 5ML. Will check again tomorrow before my weekly water change. Been thinking of upgrading to a 120, but I have been going back and forth on tearing down a 5 year old reef tank that for the most part has been pretty successful.

well my ALK is still showing around 9.5, so I turned down my dose by another 5ML. Not sure why the reef isn't taking up as much ALK. I did do a lot of fragging also I had a 4 year old colony bleach on me (prob due to higher ALK) maybe the reason for lower consumption.

75 gallon tank still going good.

Been working on my tank room upgrade. Want to move the 75 gallon into the basement. I might try to do that next weekend.

very long weekend, I can't imagine moving a larger tank let alone moving from one residence to another. But I think it came out pretty good corals are doing better then expected knock on wood I know I am not out of the woods yet. My new fish room with a fts of the 75. I only have the t5 running on the 125 that's why it looks so blue.

I could have started a bubble algae farm with all that I removed I hope i can keep it under control this time. I had to re-use all of the rock did't have a 3rd setup while waiting for the new rock to cycle.

Had a bit of a set back, happen on Jan 7 I was pretty devastated when it happen. Came home from work and recognized a not so good smell. I had placed a small light in the sump to help me see when I am working and unfortunately it came loose and of course fell right into the water. The light is so small that it didn't pop the circuit breaker when I grabbed it out of the sump I could feel the voltage. I threw a big bag of carbon into the filter sock and did about 15 gallon water change and prepared 25 more gallons.

First pic shows the crash I cant believe that I let something so stupid happen. It was very sad to see these corals that I grew out from 1 inch frags over 4 years ago basically melt away and there wasn't anything I could do about it.

2nd pic is about 3 days later all the acros bleached and where starting to take on algae, so I removed what I thought I could save and started throwing the rest out. I threw one of those big carbon blocks that you get at petco into the sump. I had to do something about the smell the whole house smelled. Pocilapora has made it along with some zoanthids and my frogspawn.

Interesting my fish showed no sign of distress, then again I only have 4 fish in a 75 gallon tank.

Tank is looking pretty good today. I feel confident that the crash is over and the tank is back up and running. I added some clean up crew and a few new frags including a pretty sweet torch. I am converting the tank to LPS and I am going to try some chalices. I have started up a new 125 gallon build that has been running for about 2 months with no livestock though it does have a 30 gallon frag tank that has some fish and corals in it.
3rd pic is my fishroom.

I think removing every thing, adding a lot of carbon and doing water changes helped in not losing the entire tank. I think if I would have let the acros continue to rot the whole tank would have been wiped out.

75 gallon tank is looking good I added a couple of LPS corals and a Chalice and they are doing fine. My ALK was 5.2, which was pretty shocking, I guess every thing is starting to grow again. I have upped my dosing from 6ML of ALK can Calcium per day to 15ML. I will check ALK daily to see what happens.

Tank is looking good. Got the Blue lighting back up to 40%. ALK is at 7.1 I am having to dose about 24ML of soda ash per day. Adding some peepermint shrimp (of course the aptasia made it though the crash) and a foxface to help with algae control. Corals that where added a 2 weeks ago are doing good

foxface has fit right in and is eating, very happy about that.

Added some fish to the 125. I added 3 lyretail anthias, 1 Male and 2 females they are eating LRS reef frenzy. Also added a Blue Tang and a Desjardini Tang. They are very small, I have observed both of them eating and my Anthias so far seem to be leaving them alone. I am little concerned about my water movers and them maybe getting caught inside one.

well just what I thought would happen my blue tang got stuck in my power head, amazingly it got wedged in such a way that he did not get shredded by the impeller. I was able to pull him out and I placed him in my make shift regium where he seems to be loving life with all the algae he stomach is huge lol. Now I have the problem with Desjardini Tang and Blue tang being separated and will be getting bigger at some time they will be re-introduced to one another, I hope it goes well.

Tanks are coming along nicely. 75 gallon tank ALK is hanging around 7.1 and Phosphates are .05, working on getting the ALK up to around 8. 125 Gallon tank ALK is around 8.1, but Phosphates is around .22 my sechem phosguard has been holding the phosphate, but it is not going down, really want to move the SPS over to the 125, but I want the phosphate down a little more at least at the beginning during the transition. Poci frags I have a ton of it and some frags I got from LEAR this year.

having a problem with algae I think it is red turf algae. I worked with John over at @reefcleaners and he suggested to try nerite snails for it. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the snails are interested, but I am very happy with my order, the snails pods and emerald crabs came in very healthy and John was very responsive to my emails, which I really appreciate. I am going to email John to see if he thinks urchins will take care of it even though I don't want them in the tank, I am not sure what else to try. I manually removed some of the rocks and gave them a good scrapping I will see if the clean up crew can take care of it while it is smaller size.

I had to manually remove the rocks and scrap the algae off, I think once I got the larger pieces of algae off the cleanup crew was more interested in eating what remained. I order some vibrant to hopefully finish it off.

Started using vibrant with refine nitrate + phosphate balance and I am extremely happy with the results my tanks have never looked better. Very poor picture

had a really cool event today (at least I thought it was) My Asterea snails had a spawn event that lasted a couple of hours, only thing I can think of is I raised the temp 1 degree yesterday. Today was my maintenance day, but I ended up skipping it I will do water changes tomorrow. I did check ALK though and it was 7.95 been pretty steady for about a month now. Short video
