Scratches in glass

Ummn, a new tank?

You did say best ;)

The really isn't any method, unless you drain the tank and try to polish them out which can still end up being visible as distortion.

I should go look into the overdraft but I know what the answer is going to be thanks for the idea though

Depends....

Small scratches, in fact, that is not scratch at all, but let say some marks can be sanded & polished, but if its a scratch, meaning if you run your fingernail and u feel that that... forget, no chance that you will polish it....

To some point, yes, it is possible to eliminate with "special" tools and sanders, polishers, but, personally, no point, it cost more than that panel of glass...

I've removed some deep scratches with cerium oxide and a polishing pad on a drill. Careful not to focus on one spot too long as it might distort the glass if you polish too deep in one area (imo a small distortion is less noticable than a deep scratch anyway) just fan out the area a bit. I also found a slower speed and lots of water to cool the area is important. The glass can really heat up if you apply too much speed/pressure. I've done this on a live partially drained display tank with livestock/coral and have not had any adverse affect. I would still be careful and recommend using this on an empty tank only. Test on a cheap piece of glass to get the hang of it first. Good luck!
