Screen kit vectra s2?

The screen kit for the vectra s2 is too long snd wont fit in my sump. Do i need to add the protective piece for the pump?

Not necessarily. It's usually a good idea to prevent snails or other foreign objects from getting sucked into the pump, but if you have a bubble trap you may be ok.

I have the same pump and got a 3D printed one that’s shorter like this from eBay because I had the same issue.
