I'm going topless on my new tank. I'd love to use the BRS screen top kit, but shipping to Alaska will pretty much double the cost of the project :(

Are there any viable alternatives to their 1/4" mesh at the orange or blue big box stores??

I see this (https://amzn.com/B000BWY7UQ) on Amazon. It ships free with Prime, then I'll just DIY a frame. Any guidance?

Thanks! :D

You can buy the aluminum framing and rubber spline and spline tool at any local hardware store.
You can buy just the plastic mesh screen from BRS which should be much cheaper to ship, no? It comes folded up.

The stuff you linked to is metal. That's a no-no.

Except that galvanized metal and I think you want something that is plastic or plastic coated.

Thanks for the quick reply, guys!

I noticed it was metal; galvanized, but wasn't sure if that's ok.

Great idea on just ordering the mesh... I'll have to price that out.

A local here used some netting from Lowes (must have been the bird netting mentioned above) all of the stuff you need can be found at most hardware shops.

The clear netting offers very little over colored netting. Aluminum frames are just fine, which I think all of them are. You can get everything at your local hardware store/big box.
