I'm in the process of slowly piecing my nylon screen top together for the build I am doing. The kit I bought has enough bits to let me go with a single screen with 2 braces across it or I could go with a split screen. What would you do, or what did you decide on? Do you have a split and like it? I'm leaning towards a split top since it will be 2 pieces 1/2 sized and that should be more manageable. Let me know your thoughts.

I have a full screen but my tank’s only 40g. Having two halves could be easier but the only concern I see is the light being blocked by the frame in the middle. Good luck!

The plastic self-install feeding ports for screen tops have made having one big top easier than in the past. They sell them on BRS.

That’s a good point about the light. At the split it would be a 2” wide light blocking strip.

I would go with a split. That would make it easier to access the tank as you would not have to take the whole top off to access one side of the tank.

On my 6' tank I made my screen top in 2 pieces.
I bought 2 of the DD Jumpguard kits with center braces. Cost a little more, but worked great.
