Hi, I am planning on building a screen top for my tank. Getting rid of the glass top that is on it now. I have 2 Gen 2 XR30 radions. I just picked up this screen from Lowe’s. Will it be ok? I have a mixed reef you could say.

What is it made out of? If its steel saltwater will eventually eat through the outer coating and cause it to rust. If not it should be safe to use. The challenge is getting it tight enough so it doesnt droop

It does look like it's a very fine pattern, and could block a lot of light. 1/4th of an inch netting is usually what comes in the kits made for tanks :) I don't think it'd block more light than a dirty/wet/salty glass pane though, but that's just a guess

The screen is meant for a patio door. Is there a place where you can buy quarter inch netting without having to buy from online retailers?

I currently have a glass top on my tank I don’t really like it and get some creep on a lot and I have to clean a lot. I had off for cleaning it went down to do laundry came back up to find my hawk fish on the floor. I am looking for another alternative to glass top.

Where do people get the plastic screen frames? I have never found those on Amazon or in home stores. The BRS ones look ok, but quite pricey for what they are.

Thanks. I am still hoping to find plastic frames to avoid the inevitable corrosion that salt water will cause on aluminum...
