screen vs glass cover?

My tank came with glass tops but I never used them. I use egg crates and I will say my evaporation is about 2 gallons a day on my way 100 gallon and I don’t have an ATO. Need to get one.

I've used glass, eggcrate, and now Artfully Acrylic screen tops.
I could never keep the glass tops clean, and after a couple years or so they were foggy and uncleanable. But it reduced evaporation immensely and kept the relative humidity in the house a lot lower, which for me was the biggest benefit.
Eggcrate was really cheap, easy to replace, easy to make holes and such. But I figured about 15% light loss through it. And I thought it looked pretty ugly.
The screen tops are soft on jumpers, allow more light through than either glass or eggcrate, and allow better gas exchange. Between the tops and using LED instead of MH lights, I also don't need a chiller anymore. Splashing is a bit of a problem.
But I never noticed any differences in pH, which tells me that gas exchange was not a big issue with the glass tops. And they do help keep everything cleaner.
Pros and cons to all, I think.

Glass, on a 65, easy to clean, take em off give a rinse and dry. 5 minutes total.

Just measured light with a par meter. With the glass top relatively clean I was losing between 10-15 par, so no biggie
I remember hearing somewhere that glass, when thick enough, can block certain wavelengths of UV light. Can anyone refute or deny this?
