Screws found on the Nyos 160 skimmer pump rusty!

Those don't look bad at all. You can get a rough idea of quality by seeing if you can pick them up with a magnet. Quality stainless is not magnetic. Here's an example of crap stainless that cost me $75 to replace....Hayward pool filter shaft....supposedly stainless. FYI, a magnet sticks to this stainless. I had a 40 year old Hayward that I replaced because it was old. This is the same newer model Hayward (now made in an un-named foreign country) only seven years old.

Bottom line, I wouldn't be overly concerned with those bolts....looks like a surface rust only. If you have a concern, coat with a little anti-seize lubricant.

You should be able to replace them with nylon screws if you wanted. Just dont over tighten them.

started looking at Vertex instead which have no such screws on the pump

If you contact EcoTech they will probably send you new ones @ no charge. I lost the little rubber o-ring that help attach the air difuser & they replaced with out an issue.
