Does anyone use a SCWD in their Reef System?
How do you have it setup in your system?
How often do you have to take it offline to clean?
Thx

Something I'd like to know as well. The Scwd or Oceans Motions are things I'd like to incorporate into my new build but they are both fairly old technology.

The scwd has many reviews that say it clogs and fails. The oceans motions is quite expensive.

Has any company made anything similar?

I have a 3/4 inch SCWD on my 46 bf. I like it it a lot. I have mine coming directly off my return pump with a return jet on opposite ends of the tank. I have had it for a couple of Years and have never had an issue.Bonus Drs Fosters
And Smith recently (not sure if they still do) ha them on sale for $20.

I have used a scwd for years!
Rarely have to maintain, I did break a tab cleaning it after 10 years, they sell a replacement gear body for $25.00
So now I have 2 and just switch them out as needed. I also run off my m1 with 3 unions. 1 from pump ,other 2 to each side of tank, makes service simple. Honestly I would not have a tank without one and I love to not have to plug something in!!

Man I have not seen one of these used in a long time. With the rise of quality and low cost power heads/wave makers the SCWD has kind of gone to the side lines. Did not even know it was still being made.
