Hi I have added a burnt sausage cuke 3 days ago on the sand behind the rock. It soon decided to attach to the rock ~half an inch up from the sand and stayed there for 2 days. Yesterday night, it finally started moving but was the wrong direction…..and hes now at the center of the tank up on the rock (see pic). It has stayed there for over 12 hrs now. I understand it might still be acclimating, but I have read cukes eat/move continuously but from I have seen, I doubt it has eaten any. Is this normal for a new cuke? When should I be worried abt it?

Not unusual for this species to climb the rock and stay there awhile, likely will return to sandbed within a few days. How old the tank? Needs to be a fairly mature sandbed for it to feed consistently.

i see thanks. Its a new tank, but the sandbed is quite dirty and plenty of pods atm, so lack of food shouldn't be the reason, but if that become the case I wouldn't mind feed the sandbed for cuke.

When I added a black cucumber it spent the first 4 days on the glass at top of the tank doing absolutely nothing at all. Then on the evening of the 4th day it came down to the sand and started eating. It’s been 7 months now and it’s not left the sand since and has grown quite a bit. I would say your cucumber is still acclimating to your tank.
