Sea Cucumber Opinions?

I have been thinking about getting a sea cucumber, but I was wondering if they actually are a risk or not if they die. I want to keep my sand really white, and this is probably the best way to do it. I don't want a sand sifting star because of how fast they starve to death. Tank is a 29g biocube. (Not the average poorly taken care of biocube )

I just got a Pink Hot Dog Cucumber today..its at least 6 inches long and an inch in circumference. He's in my sump right now to see how he'll do and then i'll put him in the display.

I have 2 in my 120. From what I understand, the super bright and colorful ones are the most poisonous if they die but I could be wrong. I have a brown and yellow cucumber in my 120 and they keep the sandbed beautiful.

One of ours is at least 7 years old and quite large. He started out in our old 125, moved to our old 180 and now resides in our 300. He and a couple of others keep the surface of our sand bed clean. Ours will even eat cyano and diatoms, lol.

Does any of your wrasses or other fish bother it? I've considered getting one in the past, but I was always afraid that my wrasses (especially my melanarus, seeing as he loves to harass anything that moves on the sandbed) would pick at it and stress it out. The last thing I need is for a cucumber to get stressed and release toxins into my tank!

I have one in both my 220 and 125. I am thinking about adding another one to the 220.

@Swanny my Melanurus or sixline don't bother mine.

Actually. My tomini AND scopas pecked at it. No harm tho. The idiot tomini pecked at my green rock nem too. I guess I was lucky.

I've got 3 Caribbean and a tiger tail in my 90 I've never seen anything even give one a second look.

Every couple of months I'll pick up a rock and find a 1/2" baby.

Sand is nice and shiny.

We don't have any experience w/a melanurus, but we had an H. chrysus for a couple of years and he never bothered them. None of our other wrasses pay any attention to them either.
