When I first got my cucumber he was ~3 inches. A little under six months later and he is getting rather huge. They don't seem to get much attention but mine does a great job cleaning up the sand and getting all over. Maybe do a spotlight on them at some point. I want to get some of the other types but worry about them getting into powerheads. Today he was resting underneath my elegance coral and didn't seem bothered by the tentacles. Should have snapped a picture of that but didn't think about it. Ignore the chaos that is my sandbed. It's a work in progress. Anyway, here he is!!

I have several .... just the plain old brown ones - but they do a great job on the sand and if out and about usually get a "wow, what is that thing" from visitors!

This is one of the largest ones - about a foot long.

Cucumbers are crazy looking. My wife likes them.

Great thread! Lovin' the pics!!

I learned yesterday that this variety can actually asexually reproduce. Mine wasn't moving much for about a week but he was by a rock so I just left him alone. I got worried and checked to see if maybe I smashed him while reaquascaping. Turns out he split himself in half and now I have two alive spotted cucumbers. No pictures yet because I think they're still finishing up their bodies so they are still hiding.

I unfortunately am very lame and do not have a cucumber of my own. But I met quite a few awesome ones in Australia last year!

How many of you can say you have worn a sea cucumber as a hat? Hm?

That one if my favorite. It was called a feather mouth. Had a bunch of these beautiful appendages that it used to get around.

Jealous. Great pics Squishie. In Australia I'd be worried to touch anything. Almost everything is venomous, poisonous, or just deadly.

Well I don't think our marine guy would have let us touch dangerous animals. And my scuba instructor was very knowledgeable as well.

I had 2 that lived for quite a few years then pouf both disappeared at the same time. They were really fun to watch. They would crawl right around my carpet anemone.
I was not aware that they reached that size though, even in the wild! Some of those are really pretty.

I’ve had two cuc’s. The first was a tiger’s tail. The odd thing about this guy is that I put him in the tank and he disappeared, thinking that he was dead. About a year and a half later he showed up for a day and disappeared again. Another year and a half and he was back. I pulled him out of my tank and gave him to my adult son. Unfortunately the little guy didn’t survive a five hour car ride in the middle of winter.

My other guy is a red and black….what a sand hog. Loves eating the “dirty” sand and pooping clean sand. Had him for about three years and still going strong.
