I am debating adding a sea cucumber to my tank. I have a large DT and would like a sand sifter that does not eat the flora. I've done a lot of reading and it seems, even with the danger of toxins being released with death or injury, lots of folk keep them safely. I am still concerned and would appreciate your thoughts and or experience concerning these animals.

I am only speaking out of my own experiences owning a cucumber. It’s an Amazing creature and I think most of the fear related to owning the cucumber is having it get stuck in a power head, die and release the toxins. I know a lot of people put some kind of DIY buffer to protect them from it. They also need very good water parameters.

In most home tanks they will starve. An animal like that should live many years, but that is in the sea or a huge, not very clean tank
