Hey guys, I was just looking around my tank and I think I found a sea hare.. Its probably just over two inches. I wasn't sure of the likelihood of having one as a hitchhiker. I've never knowlingly added one to my tank, so I'm assuming it must have been really small one it was introduced. Maybe on a piece of rock?

Should I be concerned about its presence or just let it do its thing?
Thanks

Look more like a nudi to me. Would need to see the front or top.

If it was a nudi, should I pull it?

Not all are bad. However, all the ones I find always eat something I rather have in the tank. For example, I just found neon yellow ones. They eat sponge though. I rather have sponge than a nudi.

Also, I'm not 100% its a nudi. Would need a picture of it's face. It doesn't look like any sea hare I have seen. It almost looks like it had feeder tentacles like a sea cucumber but the rest of the body doesn't look like a cucumber.

I say nudi for sure with the new pic. I would try to ID it and if you don't know 100% what kind it is then ditch it.

When I say ID I mean try to ID what type of nudi it is.

Is this just a bigger version of the small ones that bother zoas? I have a colony that has some places that won't open and look sad.. But every time I look I can't seem to find any signs.. But there's got to be something bothering my zoas.

Definitely not a sea hare. Yeah, looks like a nudibranch. How big is it?

That's definitely nudibranch. From what I understand, it's bad if he dies in your tank. I'd take him out and put him in the ocean.

Just to be safe, you should never put anything back into the ocean from your tank. It could be from the wrong area and introduce a non native pathogen into the native ecosystem or it could interfere with the native populations by competing for food. Even if you think "it's only one. It won't be a bid deal." that's what a lot of people think and before you know it you've got a invasive species.
