The description is just plain stupid and intentionally misleading. Of course it is a slow release product. It does not "Automatically control" anything. It slowly dissolves releasing everything it contains at one rate, whether that is more or less than you tank needs of anything it contains.

If there was any way to replenish trace elements exactly without any risk of overdose, it would be a big boon to reefers. Unfortunately, this old product does not do what it claims. Instead, they need to do lots of expensive testing followed by dosing, or just random dosing.

That said, it may be useful in some tanks to add these things, especially if the tank is low in everything.

Thanks. I was thinking "dang if thats the case this has to be really big amongst fellow hobbyists" but it did sound a little too good to be true. So maybe its a good thing when setting up a new tank and not so much in an established one???

I wouldn't use it in any tank, but I know that some folks do. They have to figure out the dissolution rate in their tanks to know how much to add to keep a reasonable calcium level and hope for the best on everything else, but that seems like to much effort for too little benefit.
