Took this picture a few years ago in my 30 gallon reef tank. I got it from Aquatica Corals in San Marcos San Diego. Had the guy for a while he was super active and very bright.

How pretty!!! What kind is it? Do they need anything special?

Yes mine lived for about 6 months it didn’t touch any of my coral and when it died I never found it didn’t seem to effect my fish or coral with any toxins it could possibly release so I’m assuming my carbon neutralized it.

They are reef safe but are not recommended because they only eat specific food, in this case sponges. Unfortunately, they only feed on one or maybe two species of sponges and which one is unknown so they slowly starve. They don't eat algae and are absolutely not a great addition to a clean up crew and advertising that only shows greed, irresponsibility and a total lack of concern for a living organism and why I would never help keep them in business by spending even $.01 on their website. The only nudibranchs that come to mind that can be beneficial to a home reef is the varian nudibranchs which only eat planaria but are very delicate and many of our high flow tanks are to much for them and end up in the water column and ultimately a powerhead and the lettuce nudibranchs which feed on hair algae. Both slugs however if they survive and eat up the food supply will then need to be rehomed or they too will perish. Nudibranchs are without a doubt some of the most intensely colored animals and are so cool to see but they belong in the ocean or on a calendar, not in our reef tanks
