This post is copied from my build thread to get more eyes on it here.

So of course on the last day home, I find what looks to be some sort of sea spider. I should have taken a picture in the tank before I pulled it but I didn’t want to lose it.

Thin legs unlike a zoa spider, crawled off a monti I was moving from a plug to the scape.

These are the best pictures I could get. It had a very distinct walk with segmented legs.

@KJ usually has the answers to these kinds of things

So... I have discovered I still have these in my tank. Who knows how many and what they’re eating. I saw one on the base of an Acro skeleton which has me concerned ;Nailbiting

Ive seen them years ago. They will go after acro opportunistically. Best to see at night. Bayer dip do several to erradicate offspring try wrasse like melanarus as well. Nasty

Wrasses eat them? Specifically the melanarus or just in general wrasses?

I do not have these let alone any wrasses but was planning on adding one. I was looking to get one that had a pretty good coverage on pests though rather than a specific one per say. Sort of like how I pick a tang. I usually go right to the work horse types like Kole's.

Edit: I'm not a fan of spiders. I would be wrecked if there was one in my tank.

I would think wrasse would make lunch of this. Some crabs will eat them but rarely the species in a home aquarium

I had them survive both reef dip and bayer. Found them eating a pavona. Luckily was only a couple removed with a turkey baster and never saw anymore.

Was an unlucky coral also came with gall grab that killed a one inch section.

I have dealt with these twice. A vigorous dosing of interceptor eradicated them both times. For my 180g I did a large chew on the first day, waited 24 hours and did a 20g water change. I dosed the second time 2 days after the water change followed by another 20g water change 24hrs later. Last dose was 2 days after the second water change for 24hrs. Remove all carbon.

I've successfully killed them for somebody with Melafix. Melafix is god tier dip, nothing else is even close. I suggest it for all corals and to everybody. And it killed spiders for someone I helped.

Dosage

Regular Melafix --> 65mL/gallon
Marine Melafix --> 50mL/gallon
Pond Melafix --> 10mL/gallon

I recommend the pond, as it's super concentrated. It kills everything, including things bayer won't kill. It's a quick 5-6 minute dip. That's a HARD 6, do not go past that time.

I actually have pond melafix [emoji23].
A bird attacked a fish. And was what i used for the wound. Thanks for the pointer :)

I don’t see any spiders in the pics. Maybe you can circle them. I’d recommend a halicheros wrasse to deal with them.

Interceptor! If you can still find it. Talk to your veterinarian for a comparable medication if not. In my experience it’s going to be the only way to successfully eradicate them. I dosed one large pill in a 240 gallon system. Crush it up and mix it with tank water and pour it in. Do the same 7 days later. These things will kill all your SPS.
CAUTION! REMOVE ALL INVERTS WITH AN EXOSKELETON! Interceptor works by destroying the outside layer of various types of worms dogs get and them they die. The same will happen to crabs, shrimp, etc.
