Wow, that's a long time (12 years) I bought it to get rid of what looks like grass algae at the bottom of the tank. I don't want to use chemical. Thank you for your inputI've kept penciled and longspine urchins with aggressive fish since I joined the hobby. I mean anything is possible with penciled because they're largely harmless I believe, but I've kept both types of urchin with puffers, lions, triggers, groupers, tusk and large fowlr wrasse, etc. I've never lost them and in fact I have the same penciled urchins I had 12 years ago when I jumped in to this hobby they've been through several tank moves and shifts from tank to tank, tank theme to tank theme, water disaster, you name it.
My longspine died after ten years and I replaced it with another one I've had only 2-3 years. It was about the size of my fist (not including the spines) it was far too big anyway I was about to donate it
