Sea urchin

Hey everyone,
My sea urchin is doing great and happy. The problem is that he stays in a small cave and I'm worried he can't get out. There are spaces for him but they aren't as big as him. I know they like to be in dark caves. Are they able to get into and out of small spaces?

Could you post pictures of what you mean? What species is it? Longpine Diadema urchins hide all day, then come out at night to eat algae. As far as I'm aware, many species of urchin will hide during the day. Are there any other symptoms, such as loss of spines?

He seems totally fine. No missing spines and he hand feeds every few days. He's just a common purple anemone you can find off the coast in BC.

He is fine. Is this a temperate tank?

If he got into the hole, he can probably get out just as easily. I wouldn’t worry too much.

They will adjust their spines as needed. You will be surprised where they are able to fit.

He seems fine, no stressed symptoms at all. My urchin (granted I don't own the same species) tend to vary in behavior, one day they're wandering around the next you can't find them at all.

Sweet! Can I ask your advice on feeding? I have red, purple and green seaweed. He'll only take the green seaweed. I read they need a variety of types of food. Any ideas what else I could feed him? He does go around and eat off the rocks too

They like coralline algae quite a bit. They find a lot of their diet around the tank, so I wouldn’t worry too much if it only eats your green algae sheets. Feed it those when you can.
