The tank was up and running for over a year before I tore it down a month ago and took everything out. I’m using the same sump, sand, and rocks but wanted different fishes and all that. I let it run without anything in it until about a week ago when I added 2 pj cardinals. I added in the sea urchin last night to help control the algae since I don’t have a CUC yet (I’m waiting for the fish I want). My temp is 76F, salinity is 1.24, nitrates 0, calcium 420, kh 161.1 and phosphate 0. Everything is in normal range. I can’t tell if I’m just over worrying myself and I just need to give him time to get used to the new tank
I just rechecked everything and kh was low and cal was high so I just started dosing. I don’t understand what could’ve happened since I just did a water change last night before I put him in. I’m just sad because he’s beautiful and I don’t want to lose him. Any tips on keeping him alive at this point would be great. If he ever decides to move around, I have a big hunk of algae waiting for him around the corner!
Get some good water agitation going(point powerheads up or crank up your skimmer), would be my advise. If you just performed a water change, then there is a slight chance the water needs more oxygen. Double check your salinity and if your not sure the tank is cycled, add bacteria like bio spira or mb7
Just moved the power heads to create more agitation. I initially had it lowered because it looked like the cardinals I have were struggling to swim against the current, but they’ll be alright. My salinity is good. 1.25. I’ll add some more bacteria to it, but I’m pretty sure it’s cycled. Thank you for the help
I have a good amount of algae built up so far. I’ve been waiting for the right blenny to come in and until he comes in then this guy will be my only CUC. If he runs out of food, I’ll give him some seaweed. Thank you for the help!
