Quick question for the forum regarding actual sea water and how long it can be kept/used for. My LFS that I use for water and things like that supplies me with water to use for all my water changes. It is actual water from the ocean as it is 1 mile away. Has been supplying hundreds of aquariums for years like this. My question is, when I get a 5 gallon bucket of this water and keep it, how long can it sit and still be used for a water change?

From my experience not long. It needs to have constant agitation. And if it's from the ocean it has organisms that will die off at some point. But that's just my experience.

So would you think days or a week? Just curious as I got it Sunday

About 2 to 4 days depending on the temp and luck too lol. I tend to mix my in. 33 gallon drum and use it with in 48h. I do not have a setup or space to keep water.
