Hi, I currently have my display cycling and have two clowns, a yellow chromis, and a small blue tang in quarantine. My quarantine tank is 3ft long.
Currently treating with cupramine and fish are doing well but my ammonia badge started developing a slight green tinge. Not as green as alert, but still not yellow.
I have done two water changes - the first was 20%, and the 2nd a couple of days later was closer to 50%.
The badge hasn't changed colour and is still slightly green. Used my salifert ammonia test kit and it is showing zero ammonia. I have faith in the test kit as I am dosing ammonia in my display tank for the cycle and it is indicating the ammonia pretty close to where I would have thought it would be.
I'm not new to reef keeping but I am new to quarantining. That's why I have been out of the hobby for a few years due to all the fish I lost from disease in the past.
I have made sure to dose the new water with cupramine before putting it in the tank to keep the copper level consistent.
My question is everywhere I have been reading states you can't test for ammonia when you run cupramine because it will give you a false positive. In my case my test kit is indicating zero but the ammonia alert badge has a slight green tinge. Who do I believe??
The next step I guess is to leave the ammonia badge out of the tank for the day.
