Are the SeaChem ammonia badges really that unreliable? I am setting up a new tank, I test with my RedSea kit my ammonia is at 2.0ish where I want it, and my badge says "looks good boss" what the heck. Has anyone else had problems with them or is it possible I just got a bunk one?

I had one on a QT six months ago that went up and down as expected. You gotta let them soak for a bit, and light it from behind with a bit of white though.

Just dug out my old badge and it indicates free ammonia, not total ammonia. I think this vid could explain better than I could;

Yeah I think mine is just bunk I will pick up a new one and try it out again. I added ammonia to my tank for a fishless cycle and it still stayed yellow the whole time. I did have this in my nano tank for two months previously so my faith on this product is kinda shaken but I will give it another try with a new one.
