morning @Randy Holmes-Farley,

For dosing Nitrates, would you know what dose about for 1ppm would be on 300g?

I may switch from Neonitro to this, as I can't readily access Neonitro in Canada.

And I'm assuming Seachem Flourish is reef safe?

Thanks

You do not want seachem flourish, below is the ingredients. Do not want to be adding all that to the tank just for NO3.

You want KNO3 (stump remover). Disolve 100g into 1L of RODI water, this will give you a 100,000ppm solution.

(C1)*(V1) = (C2)*(V2)

(100,000)*(x) = (1,135.5L)*(1ppm)

11.4mL will increase 300 gallons 1ppm.

Ask questions if you need more clarification :)

Stump remover banned in Cananda...not possible to get. And NeoNitro is also not available in Canada. But I've been able to get it across through BRS recently. Just dumb expensive with their flat rate shipping across boarder.

what about food grade sodium nitrate? Something like this?

Sodium Nitrate ⊘ Non-GMO ❤ Gluten-Free ☮ Vegan ✡ OU Kosher Certified - 50g/2oz

Nope. Nothing on Amazon search comes up. Most likely under same guidelines for the ban.

You basically need to find something that contains nitrate. Maybe some type of fertilizer? Idk, you definitely dont want that first product you mentioned.

Edit: I just had an erratic idea. Fill a tote with saltwater and a sponge filter. Add biospira and dose ammonia. Continue to dose ammonia and you will end up with clean saltwater that is very high in NO3. Make sure NH4 and NO2 has completely converted before dosing this solution to your tank. Same formula as above.

I presume he meant fluorish nitrogen, with is just nitrate and urea. It's fine, but the urea complicates dosing calculations a bit.

i do prefer food grade sodium nitrate anyway.

You are looking at a different product.
