Seachem Phosguard/Purgin vs Chemiclean Pure Blue?

Hi,

If I used the Seachem Phosguard, Purigen and Activated Carbon, would this be similiar to Chemiclean Pure Blue?

Chemiclean Pure is great and convenient. Curious if I would save money going the diy with Seachem combo.

SEACHEM LOTS OF HYPE IMO> Just use a good carbon and GFO.

I presume you mean Chemipure? Chemiclean is an antibiotic.

I cannot really compare the relative mixtures of different types of binders that bind different things, but if it were me, I’d use Rox 0.9 GAC, GFO, and possibly Purigen.

don’t be fooled by this Chemipure statement about Chemipure Blue:

• Contains two high-grade hybrid ion exchange resins to produce a synergistic formula for the health and well-being of your aquarium inhabitants

Ion exchanges resins are of little to no value in seawater. They may bind some organic matter, but that’s about it.
