Can I use Seachem Prime Water Conditioner instead of RODI water? Thanks!

Yes** but chlorine/chloramines are only part of the issue. Your water is guaranteed to contain a mix of minerals that includes copper, which is fatal to invertebrates such as snails and corals. Those minerals do not evaporate, so the concentrations in your tank will gradually increase when topping off with fresh water and eventually reach hazardous levels. RODI prevents this issue from occurring. In a pinch, you are probably fine to use it since tap concentrations are very unlikely to be hazardous. Long term, you want to use DI water.

Hi. When you say instead of, are you referring to continuous use in place of an RODI!. An RODI will give you purified water by perminantly removing much more than prime will. And prime will only remove elements such as NO2/NO3 and ammonia for 48 hrs. After which time they could be released back into the water if your bio filter hasn't broken them down effectively. After which time you would need to redose prime.

They are two very different things. Prime will not do the job of an RODI system.

Prime is generally use in quarantine systems to control ammonia spikes due to temp filtration.

Hope this has answered your question OK.

I'm sure other will chime in to so see what other feedbacj you receive.
