Hey guys,

I've got fish on QT in chelated copper now, been second day, changed water but tad cloudy.
Gave lots of food, cause they are eating very well.

I've added Prime, read on here it's ok.
Questions:

1. How about seachem Pristine, is that safe and good to add to clear sludge and ammonia, nitrates?

2. How about Ammonia Stop from Predibio?

Thank you!

I looked online, but I couldn't find out what Aqua Copper is chelated with. Seachem says not to use Prime with their Cupramine as it breaks the chelation bond, releasing toxic free copper. I'd be concerned that it would do the same with Aqua Copper.

Hey Jay
Thanks a billion for the check and reply.
It's like Fritz Copper Safe, chelated copper sulfate.

The ammonia has been around 1 the past days, I've added Prime, and some bacteria including Bacter M and PSB.

The fish are eating, seems to be doing well.

Also, I read an announcement on here that Prime is safe with chelated copper?

Thank you!

The dose they list on the screenshot you posted (0.15 to 0.20 ppm) is for ionic copper. Now, they do mildly chelate ionic copper with citric acid to keep it in solution in the bottle, but that is not the same as amine-based chelated copper products like coppersafe and copper power.

It is just some people's opinion that Prime is safe to use with amine-chelated copper. Full testing has not been done. Personally, I never use any reducing agent with chelated copper. I also never have any real fish toxicity seen during my copper treatments, yet I hear about that quite a bit online - I always wonder if people are using reducing agents in excess, and that is causing their copper treatments to become more toxic?

For ammonia control in a quarantine setting, I expect none of these to be effective

Fritz bacteria is a good option

Thanks for that - I think I may have used reducing agents alot; the day after your reply, the ammonia went nuts! Good thing I was around to notice and take action; moved the fish to another tank and all is good now. I will get my hands on coppersafe soon; I want to be sure

Thanks for this great suggestion! I've actually just ordered this for the just-in-case!
Thanks again!

All good and sorted here :) Cheers!
