What's up guys? I'm having an issue that I want to address. I've been using Seachem Reef salt since day one. My system is roughly 50g (40b display and 20g sump) and I do 5g water changes every 2 weeks. About a week ago, I finally got around to ordering my Salifert test kits and B-Ionic 2 part. I started keeping track of parameters last Thursday (water change day). Ever since then, my calcium has been 500ppt+ and Alk has been fluctuating. I've been dosing Alk daily to maintain 9.5-10dKh.

I guess my question is two-fold. One, are these parameters a problem? I'm keeping mostly SPS. And two, should I continue using the Seachem Reef salt, or switch it up?

Its also worth noting that, at a glance, my corals seem to be doing very well. I've got great colors and tons of PE on my SPS, as well as new growth from just about everyone (softies, LPS, SPS).

I use the reef salt also and have been for years! The same happened to me for about a year then I asked the seachem reps what to do and the told me to let my water mix for 48the hour. Sounds strange but it works and that's how I've been doing it for a long time and o maintain around 475 calcium
