Hello - Unfortunately I had to tear down my tank last fall due to new flooring being installed in out main floor. This was my first tank and was still very new to the hobby, just peeping a bit of coralline algae with was not cool.

While I just restarted Monday and using live rock / sand my LFS recommended SeaChem Seed. Never heard of this before and wanted to see if this is a good product to use while cycling all over? Also wondering is there anything else I should use and how long it should take before adding fish?

When can I have the lights on?

Tank - Waterbox 35.1
22 gal with 11 gal sump

Thank you all in advanced for your assistance!

I sometimes think LFS purposefully try and rip people off like this, but in actuality 90% of them don't actually understand cycling they simply think bottle bac must be sold in all setup cases.

and then again, some posters state live rock used when it was dry

what's the actual history of the rock going into the new tank, is it your old rock> was it wet rock from the pet store, was it dry>?

Good point and thank you. Should have specified it is the Caribsea Life Rock

Caribsea Life Rock

thats legit then, it's dry. add the bottle bac and put in two ground up pinches of fish food, wait about 15 days since that's a slower type of cycling bac compared to fritz, and it'll be cycled liferock. no testing needed, the wait time with the cycling bac and fish food degrading in the tank will do it. legit lfs sale.

Thank you all very much for your assistance. When should I be ok to turn the lights on and for how long if no corals yet? Planning on corals in about 4-6 months to stabilize the tank well enough first.
