I recently re-did a section of my established live rock that involved replacing a small area of heavy rock with lighter weight Pukani. Nutrient levels seem unaffected, presumably because I only affected a small amount of my biological filtration. I know eventually bacteria will spread from my sand, other live rock, etc., but I've been dosing Seachem Stability during this transition just in case. I was wondering if Stability will actually colonize the new rock? Instructions recommend continual dosing which made me curious.

I've never used one of the bacteria in a bottle products, but I've heard Stability and Dr. Tims do work to some extent. I just don't understand how the bacteria survives without a food source and without rock when in the bottle. I wouldn't worry about it, I've removed pieces of rock and added new rock many times with no ill effects. If you were replacing like half the rock, it cour be a different story though
