I had the 65 gallon version of the Seaclear System II. This was in the late 90's. The only difference is the bioball chamber was twice as big as the one on the 50 gal. Honestly I enjoyed the tank but I used it as a fowlr. I don't see why you couldn't use it for reef purposes. The chamber for the stock protein skimmer isn't much to be desired compared to modern set ups. The only thing you would probably want to do it remove the bio balls and replace it with live rock. I did like how the water was distributed back into the tank. But you can always add a powerhead to this tank to create more flow. 50 bucks is a killer price! good luck.
 
Thanks It looks like a neat tank and I like the idea of acrylic. Now just have to convince the wife to let me buy it ha!
