Seaclone 100 Protean Skimmer Problems...

Seaclone 100 Protean Skimmer Problems. When I got my tank from a guy on Craig's List it came with a Seaclone 100 Protean Skimmer I didn't know at the time is was missing parts. I ordered the stuff I needed to get it working. Now when I try and use it the water won't go all the way through the tube. Its like it is trying to work but its not priming all the way. What should I do?

Here it is as you can see the water is trying to go up the tube its just not making it.

Isn't there an adjustment valve for the air intake? You maybe need to close it down some. There's really no good reason the pump shouldn't be able to overcome that small height. Is the pump intake blocked?

No blockage and I just tried to mess with the airline valve. Still not working.

What happens if you put the airline under water? That should make the pump push at full capacity.

I just tried that still not working. I also tried taking the whole piece of foam and tube off when I did that a little water went over the hump but then it went back down again.

We need a pic of your pump, face on. not top down.If your pump cant push water over that little U tube, something must be wrong with your pump

Try taking the pump off and running in a bucket of water. See if it moves any water.

I see what's wrong....you need to throw the skimmer out the window or return it to guy. Then go on bulk reef or another sponsor and get a reef octopus.
That should hold you over for a while...till you see what an ATB or Bubbleking can do

I had one when I started out. I took the tube off and used it in the sump. It still was a bad skimmer I then converted it into a reactor and got a better skimmer.

I ended up with two pumps in this whole process both of them push water when I put them in a bucket.

I have also tried switching the impellers around on both pumps. If there is a bad o ring would that be enough reason for it not to pump?

I think they came with a maxi-jet 1200. Is that the pump you have?

The both have mj1200 on them.

Well if your pumps work and you have it hooked up right, it should blow water and air right threw that u tube. Sorry, I can't be more helpfull.
