My skimmer is over flowing every 4 hours I clean it out even at night. It's overflowing into my sump. It's a 75 gal with 20 long sump. My par
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
.25 nitrates
.25 phosphates
I know this skimmer is horrible but it was in my budget. It's producing great skimmate just I hate it's overflowing into my sump.

These are still being made! Total junk skimmer and way under rated. Its overdlowing with foam, not water. Your bio load is heavier than the skimmer is desinged for, imo 30g tops and the 100 its rated at. Thats why its over foaming like that. The water level needs to be lowered some inside the skimmer. The problem is that skimmer has no water level adjustment just an air valve. If you bought it new you could have spent that money on a much better used skimmer. If used and super cheap then it is what it is, a old poorly designed skimmer. Older Reef Octopus 110 can be found cheap as can ASM G1 and G2. I ran a SAC 302 on my old 75g and a have a RO 150SSS for my new 75g build. You can try decreasing the air intake using the valve which it should have, this will decrease the amount of skim made. It may also calm down as the waste is removed from the water and the skimmer reaches and equalibrium with the waste in the water.

We are buying the reef octopus 110sss, or the bubble magus curve 5 in the next month. Or is there a better model to look at?

I was considering both those for my tank. RO amd BM are good skimmers. You will be happy with either, honestly flip a coin if that helps.

Those are good skimmers. Buy one with a DC controllable pump. You won’t regret it. I just bought a Skimz to replace my seaclone Skimmer. I hated that thing. I totally love the Skimz to pieces though.
