hello folks! I'm setting up my first seahorse tank! I have a reef tank that's doing good, and wanna give seahorses a try, my main goal was simplicity and I think I will achieve that here's my plan
equitment
35g 20x20x20 cube
a aqua clear hob filter that is for 60-100 gallons

aquamaxx 1.5 hob protein skimmer for up to 100 gallons

2 powerheads that are low flow

DIY stand, I know how to build them

any led light that can do macro algae

aqua scape
some Tonga branches kinda piled in the middle

no substrate because I'm a beginner and people reccomend it for beginners

a few macro algae that look cool and provide hitches for them

maybe some chains for hitches

livestock
2 erectus seahorses
2 peppermint shrimp
basic snail cuc

I'll do 12 percent water changes every week

feeding
I'll do a feeding teay
I have school from 8:20 to 3:00 so here's what I would do
when I go to leave I put half a cube of mysis in the tray
when I get home I do the other half cube, would that work?

so in theory this tank would have minimal maintenance, and provide a good home for the ponies, it should be good filtration even though in doing a hob system? what should I change, what should i keep? Thanks Max

There is an entire forum here on R2R regarding sea horses, recommend you check it out. Also check out this website.

I'll checkout the website, can you send a link to that forum? I don't know how to find it

Sure see below. Also if you go to the FORUMS tab, 2nd from left, at the top of the page you will see the many R2R forum categories, each specifically organized to a subject.

Another very reputable source for captive bred seahorses is Ocean Rider in Hawaii. That is sort of near California. I have bought from them and Seahorse Source. Both are very good and have excellent animals. I am in PA and so got most of my ponies from Seahorse Source so they only had to endure 1 overnight shipping. However my very 1st pair came from Ocean Rider and even though they had 2 day shipping the seahorses arrived in excellent condition and my matriarch was my most long lived seahorse living to be about 6 + years old.
