So I'm adding 2 small frag tanks to my fish room and I purchased a 110 gallon stock tub to use as a sump. It has a metal drain plug so I'm gonna want to remove it and seal it... my question is what is the best way to do it?

Easiest way would probably be to remove the existing piece and drill the hole out for a plastic bulkhead like the ones we use on our tanks. Then just cap the bulkhead.

I'd remove the metal plug, measure the hole and hopefully there will be a bulkhead fitting that will match up. Then just a plug in the bulkhead fitting.
Worse case, you may have to enlarge the hole.

Instead of a bulkhead you can use a uniseal, generally less expensive and works real well on plastic containers. After that you can use a PVC plug and seal it.
Looking at the plug that is there currently it may twist off if you put a wrench on each side and give it a good twist. If not you will have to drill it out, just make sure you use a standard size bit and drill straight through it (no wabbeling it around to try and grind it out). Regardless of bulkhead or uniseal they need very specific size holes that need to be clean and round.

Not a big fan of uniseals, but if it works for you then great.
I think a bulkhead fitting is a more permanent fix for that hole.

Uniseals can take movement and flexing where a bulkhead is best for a glass or acrylic tank that is very stable. They have been in use in industry forever and there is nothing wrong with them.

I didn't say there is anything wrong with them.
I simply said what I think.

Having done stuff like this all my life ( 55 years as a fish keeper), I do know a little about what works for me.
