Can I take shells from a freshwater tank and put them in my saltwater reef tank? I assume yes but how do I properly clean them? :)

As in snail shells? You could, but I don't know why. A bleach bath helps, but I think a short vinegar dip might work wonders (just don't leave them in there too long...).

yeah I just read up on it and its basically useless as it will get covered in Coralline algae anyway. I read something about putting larger shells for hermit crabs.
