Are there any seasonal variations in the nutritional needs of reef inhabitants that should be taken into account?

That's interesting especially when you think of how some aquatic species migrate through the year.

There's definitely seasonal variation in wild populations (caused by migration; temperature, light, nutrient, and weather differences shifting phytoplankton and zooplankton populations and nutritional profiles; etc.), but there doesn't seem to be a need for us to emulate those changes in aquariums at this stage, and what those changes mean is different for each species - so emulating that at a species level could be incredibly difficult.
